Powertrain Component
Engine

Description:

The engine component models a gasoline or diesel engine using a torque map. The torque map is a three dimensional lookup that calculates engine torque based on the engine speed and accelerator pedal position. The torque map is define using the EngSpeeds and EngTorq variables.

Once the engine torque is known this is summed with the shaft torque (the torque applied onto the engine from the transmission) and the engine friction torque (FrictionTorque) which represents the drag from any accessories. This total torque is divided by the engine inertia (Inertia) and integrated to calculate the engine velocity (Vel3).
